SAQA's Strategic Plan

SAQA is a vibrant community, stitched together by creativity, generosity, and a shared belief in the power of art quilts. Our strategic plan is the guiding pattern that helps us honor that spirit—shaping how we nurture artists, support meaningful programs, and steward the organization we value together.

This plan reflects both vision and care: vision for where SAQA is headed, and care for the people, resources, and ideas that make our work possible. It offers a clear framework for moving forward while preserving the flexibility and imagination that define who we are.

This strategic plan reflects the collective efforts of SAQA’s members, volunteers, staff, and leadership. It provides a shared framework for decision-making and accountability, while honoring the creativity, generosity, and commitment that sustain our organization. Together, we steward SAQA’s mission and ensure its continued vitality for the future.

What Is a Strategic Plan?
A strategic plan is a roadmap for where an organization wants to go and how it will get there. It helps focus our energy, time, and resources on what matters most. For SAQA, the strategic plan:

• Clarifies our shared goals and priorities
• Guides decisions by the Board, committees, and staff
• Helps ensure our programs support SAQA’s mission and members
• Provides continuity as leaders and volunteers change

The plan does not dictate every action or limit creativity. Instead, it provides direction and flexibility—allowing SAQA to respond thoughtfully to opportunities while remaining aligned with our values and long-term vision.

In short, the strategic plan helps SAQA move forward responsibly and together.

We invite you to explore SAQA’s strategic plan and see how our shared vision takes shape. SAQA’s Executive Director, Martha Sielman, the Board of Directors led by President Lilo Bowman, the Strategic Plan Team, and dedicated staff have worked collaboratively to align our goals with the work we do every day, resulting in a thoughtful and comprehensive plan. As members, supporters, and partners in this community, we welcome your engagement as SAQA continues to grow and evolve.
