United We Stitch – Imagining the Future of Democracy is a nationwide community art project. The organizers invite participants from across the USA to create unique fabric panels that express their personal hopes and dreams for our collective future.
Participants are asked to make 3’ X 5’ panels, the size of a flag. The panels will be attached together for one-day displays in communities all across the country. Individuals and groups are welcome to participate. Limited sewing skills needed. Panels can be quilted, stitched, painted, or even decorated with fabric markers. Information and directions for creating a panel can be found at unitedwestitch.com
The first goal, in honor of the International Day of Peace, is to present these panels in public settings, including State House grounds across America, in every state on September 20, 2026.
This is a non-partisan event designed to bring communities together in support of our Democracy – creating unity through art.
