EXHIBITION THEME:
Shadows and reflections, dark and light, the obscure and the luminous, are two of the most common and inspirational elements in an artist’s toolbox – both physically and emotionally. Are they opposites? Or are they companions that rely on each other?
Shadows are, in a simple sense, the blocking or obscuring of light by an object. Sometimes, as in silhouettes, they are the dark, opaque replication of an object. Reflections are the return of an object's light – perhaps clear as a mirror image or scattered and sparkling as seen in ripples of water.
The words themselves have more than one meaning and conjure up multiple interpretations. Shadows summon up thoughts of mystery, concealment, something difficult to perceive, or something beyond us. Reflections can be contemplations, deep meditations that reveal our inner light, draw on our spirit and
reveal inspiration.
