Active members of SAQA’s New Mexico region, resident and non-resident, are invited to apply, in addition, we welcome the Colorado/Wyoming/Utah and Arizona regions. This includes 1st and 2nd region members.
People and animals are distinguished by their individual personalities-
We’ve all known shy children and extroverted adults. Additionally, our dogs often look at us in a quizzical fashion, horses radiate kindness out of their huge eyes, and cats sometimes turn up their noses at us.
Wild animals range from playful otters to calculating raccoons and fierce, wild wolves.
Portray an intriguing personality trait in an abstract or figurative way.
Barbara Yates Beasley, one of the foremost animal portraitists of our time. Her website, Windows into the Soul of Animals, tells it all.
Barbara will select 30-35 pieces for the show.
The premiere venue for the show will be the Carlsbad Museum, New Mexico, February 2024.
Additional venues will be announced at a later date, unsold work is planned to be returned to the artists by the end of 2025.
You may enter up to three wall-hung works.
Size range for work to be submitted is 18”-42” width, and 18”- 60” length.
All submitted pieces need to fit the SAQA description of a layered, stitched work and be able to be rolled for shipment- no framed pieces for this show.
Kits, pre-made patterns, and other non-original work are not eligible.
Each quilt must have a 4” hanging sleeve- instructions
Image requirements will be sent with the application link next August- good images are critically important, consider a professional photographer if you are not able to take your own.
Quilts may be for sale, those that are not for sale must have a stated insurance value.
