Out of Whole Cloth by Anna Chupa

Non-SAQA
Exhibition

With her background in digital photography and printmaking, Anna Chupa's quilts employ architectural montage in her textile designs. Chupa sees digital montage as a type of fabrication, where different pieces come together to create a new whole. She used this concept to create this body of work, where she digitally printed images on cotton sateen and then free-motion quilted them on a long-arm machine.

This exhibition contains twelve works representing architecturally-inspired whole cloth quilts portraying her travels to Barcelona, San Francisco and the urban neighborhoods around her home in Pennsylvania. Through this collection we explore Chupa’s experiences and the unique ways new mediums are being used in quilting.
