THEME/CONCEPT
The North Shore region of northern Minnesota runs along the edge of Lake Superior from Duluth, Minnesota in the U.S. up to Ontario in Canada. Owing to the area’s vast resources and natural beauty, it has been the site of much history, from the earliest indigenous people who settled in the area as soon as the glaciers receded, through eras of settlers practicing fur trading, mining, logging, and commercial fishing, through to today’s tourism and other industries.
The purpose of this showcase is to highlight the beauty as well as the colorful history of the area. Participants are encouraged to interpret this theme in their own unique way.
