“The Nature of Things” is a collection of over 25 pieces of art in warm earthen tones and organic elements.  More pieces are being added over time as Debra Kay continues to work with the Nature theme.  Inspired by the color of fallen leaves, moss on trees, and lichen on rocks, the pieces incorporate various techniques and processes.

Rusting is used in some pieces with walnut ink applied over the rust to create rich visual texture and depth of color. The wall art utilized commercially produced batik fabrics for their variety and depth of color.  Natural fabrics of linen, cotton, or silk are also used, selected for their color and texture.  Some fabrics are over-dyed with coffee that is allowed to evaporate in the desert heat, leaving darker places where the coffee has pooled.

Reception: March 5 from 5:30 - 7:30pm
