Modern Abstraction: a journey in paper + stitch

David Owen Hastings is a textile artist whose work appeals to those who love organic processes and the beauty of nature, color and texture. In this exhibit, David combines his monotype-printed paper with stitching to create richly-textured "paper quilts." He also creates modern, minimal quilts and enjoys pushing the boundaries of the quilt as a structure to explore new ideas, often using textiles he has dyed or gleaned from unconventional sources. His journey as a maker has taken him from gallery artist into the world of modern quilting.
