THEME/CONCEPT
In the Mountain West, we are often obsessed with the ebb and flow of water, its scarcity, its abundance, its movement through our landscapes, but many other forces in our lives also rise, recede, shift, and return.
Life moves in rhythms, quiet retreats and powerful surges, stillness followed by motion. Fluid Rhythms invites artists to explore the shifting currents that shape our inner and outer worlds. Consider the ways movement, change, and transformation appear in your life, your environment, or your imagination. Think of the seasons, emotions, migrations, growth, loss, renewal, or the subtle pulse of daily routines.
Your quilt may reflect:
Natural rhythms: tides, wind, cycles of light, geological shifts
Emotional landscapes: grief and healing, chaos and calm, contraction and expansion
Patterns of time: repetition, interruption, evolution, return
Textile metaphors: layering, unraveling, mending, tension, release
Human movement: journeys, transitions, cultural flows, community dynamics
