Our annual SAQA conference "Bridging the Gulf - Fabric to Fine Art" will be held online from April 29-May 7, 2022. For this year, we’re going to beautiful Florida and the Gulf states for our virtual experience, with fresh fish and sandy beaches all over the place! Even though most of us will not physically be in sunny Florida, our local committee has been working for a couple of years now to put the Floridian flavor on this conference in every way they can.
This will be our third time presenting an international conference in a virtual format, and we are confident it will be the best one yet! No matter where you live, you’ve got something special to look forward to!
We have lined up some outstanding talent to present at the conference, including two extraordinary keynote speakers who will push the boundaries of your imagination. Janet Echelman’s body of work involves fibers at an architectural scale that has to be seen to be believed - don't miss her fascinating Ted Talk. Jim Arendt creates art work involving denim in new ways that challenge our ideas of how to work with fiber. Learn more in this video.
Keidra Navaroli will moderate a panel of museum professionals The conference will also feature some familiar names in the art quilting world, a panel of museum professionals, Lightning Talks, Spotlight Auction, studio tours, exhibition videos, online chat sessions with other attendees, and so much more!
So please get ready to sign up for an experience that might otherwise be out of reach for many of us. And since it's all online, you can take part without reserving a flight - no passport required! Your $200 registration includes all content plus access to the recordings for 3 months.
