In 2025, SAQA Japan was invited to exhibit at the main venue of the Tokamachi Quilt Festival. Tokamachi is not only a kimono town, but also home to the famous Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale, making it a region with a strong international flavor.
Hoping to link the Japanese sensibility of the kimono with the international flavor, SAQA Japan reached out to SAQA members in the Asia-Oceania region. They sent Japanese fabric kits to each region and received over 40 mini quilts. The quilts made from these kimono fabrics, along with the diverse works of SAQA Japan members, contributed to the creation of a rich and international quilting world.
