On a springtime trip to south Texas, I photographed this glorious large yucca bloom. I wanted to create an original and unusual way to depict the details of this beautiful bloom with fabric. I designed individual three dimensional petals using scores of folded and cut fabric shapes for the main portion of the flower head. While emphasizing the lights and shadows, I combined the petal shapes with the pointed leaves to convey the drama I saw in this scene.
