This piece started as a drawing of everything bouncing around in my brain: being a woman now, with our rights being questioned; too much plastic; separating families; reproductive rights; America’s more troubling voices getting louder. My brain caught on the voices telling me women can’t, not allowed to, shouldn’t be able to. There’s women having babies, losing babies, wanting babies and not able to have them, choosing not to have babies, having babies taken by the government. We should have solved ALL of these problems. They’ve been around long enough.
