I am always on the lookout, often locally, for inspiration for my next textile project. Being located part-time in NYC, walking from one block to the next, there is constant evidence of urban renewal: the deconstructing and reconstructing of space. How can all these buildings - from skyscrapers to apartment and office buildings, to smaller homes and storefronts - fit into the compressed but endlessly varied urban landscape? To portray the idea of urban renewal is a bit like solving a puzzle.
