Underwater

Our universal inability to stem global warming is raising the sea level to heights that might soon submerge the iconic Statue of Liberty. I fear parts of my country are sinking underwater, both environmentally and politically. Our political will to remain a sanctuary for immigrants seeking freedom, hope, and opportunity may be decreasing to such a level that the statue’s very symbolism could be drowning.
