Temperature Rising

Time and again, I return to the study of the colour red. I remain captivated by the colour's power and energy - by its ability to convey so much: passion, heat, anger, love. As I moved this quilt under the machine needle, creating a dense free-form secondary texture that could challenge the intensity and primacy of the palette, I considered the power of thread to push the colours forward, like lava pouring from the core of a volcano, transitioning from yellow to orange, culminating in red-where my work so often begins and ends.
