"Tales from a Shingled Roof" is one of several works in a series called "Tales from a Ghost Town." All of these works were inspired by my photographs of dry and decaying wood in Virginia City, an 1890's goldmining town in the mountains of Montana. I created the visual textures of the fabric with thickened procion dyes in a technique similar to finger painting.
Hand-dyed cotton fabric, cotton backing and batting
Fabric is collaged to the backing, machine quilted
