So many traditional quilts are based on the grid. I sought to use materials with grid-like markings to pay homage to the past. Working intuitively, I combined unlikely and unusual materials such as repurposed plastics, metal, and vintage doilies to become building blocks. Surprising the viewer with the unexpected, I intentionally created disturbances across the surface. If a material could be cut and stitched, then it was fair game!
