Strata 4 - Outcroppings

During the construction of “Strata 4 – Outcroppings”, I marveled at the surprising attraction I felt when looking at the backsides of the strip-pieced fabrics. I debated with myself: Could I expose sections of the reverse side, the side that is usually hidden between the front and the batting? Could I expose the uneven seams and frayed edges? The risk-taker in me broke through these traditional boundaries, and I incorporated this novel texture into my quilt, creating depth and texture.
