Inspired by the colours of lichen on stone. The title plays on the word 'throw', which could refer to a quilt or a stone thrown into water - hence the radiating circles like ripples.
I made many quilts for the home in the 1970s and 1980s, and my first art quilts were, like this, an attempt to take a traditional technique and give it a contemporary feel.
Materials
Cotton lawn.
Techniques
Secret Garden' variation of cathedral window patchwork. Patches hand-appliqued to background which was machine-pieced in squares. Hand-dyed by the artist, hand quilted.
