This original design is based on my daily walks in the woods with my dog George. The leaves in the forest where we walk inspired me to create this quilt. The leaves in the central section are strip pieced using gradations of hand dyed greens and framed in bright orange the contrast of spring and fall. The border is crazy pieced on a foundation of paper of hand dyed shades of fushia, reflecting the crazy effect fallen leaves make on the ground.
Materials
Artist own hand dyed cotton fabric, rayon and cotton quilting thread.
Techniques
Machine pieced and machine quilted on a domestic home sewing machine.
