When trekking in Peru, Salkantay Mountain left an indelible memory. Using trip photos as inspiration, honed by my memories from the trek and observations of the Rocky Mountains near my home, I used fabric appliqué and free-motion machine stitching to create my impression of this imposing presence.
Materials
Silk, cotton, wool, linen, polyester, silk batting, and organza.
Techniques
Hand painted silk. Raw and turned-edge appliquéd, thread painted and quilted.
