Bees and butterflies get all the glory. But if it wasn’t for me, Chocolate Midge, there wouldn’t be any chocolate! I’m the only one who can efficiently pollinate the tiny flowers of the cacao tree. Which allows them to form cacao beans, which happen to be the key ingredient of chocolate. <P> I’m picky about where I live and work; I like a shady, humid, tropical environment. Preferably in the rainforest. But intensive farming, pesticides, and climate change are threatening my home. I can't thrive just anywhere. And why shouldn’t I be choosy about my environment? I should be a star, with a chocolate bar named after me. After all, without me there won’t be any chocolate.
