When I had been invited to create a piece for 'Objects of Play' at the Pennsylvania State University I worked out a completely different idea that failed. I was running out of time and decided to create a play on the word Monopoly. Using only black, white and gray I started to work out cheap and expensive materials for the property segments of the board. (Silk or a metallic fabric went on Park Place). Separately, I made layers of money, Chance cards, the dice and houses or hotels. Everything was machine embroidered, although looking at the picture i can’t quite believe that. The quilt folded in the middle like a game board
A side note: A gentleman bought it for the BOARD room of the Beverly Hills Bank. Couldn’t work bored into it some way, though.
