Middlesex Fells: Late Fall
I planned this as a completely pieced landscape, but a friend suggested another approach when I was half done. So I decided to separate some of my pieced sections, by underlaying insertions and leaving the edges raw. This was a new approach for me to add to my repertoire. One difficult part of such a forest landscape is to find fabrics that imply the light and shadow and airiness and movement of the clumps of fall leaves. Madras plaids turned at many angles work well.
Cottons, cotton batting
