Looking at this quilt reminds me of the ride I have been on, making quilts and dyeing fabric since the 1970s. My memories of merry-go-rounds prompted this piece for a show called "dreams of childhood" at a time when our children were enjoying them too. For this one, I tried techniques and made design decisions entirely new to me, learning a lot and finishing in 1990, long after that deadline. I have made hundreds of quilts since then, enjoying experimentation and discovery.
Materials
Silk broadcloth, rhinestones, glitter, gold and silver paints, silk and metallic threads, polyester batt, silk back and binding
Techniques
Immersion dyed and hand-painted with dye, needle turned hand applique, machine piecing, mainly hand quilted
