Since 2013, I have been experimenting with laser-cut technology in my artwork. I have investigated the potential of this very precise method of making complex voids across the delicate surface of fabric. It has helped redefine and reinvigorate my work in terms of intent, process, and construction techniques. Inspired by aerial views, this fabric collage maps an inventive world that blurs the line real and imaginary landscapes resulting in an exploration of abstraction. This new direction has given me the opportunity to further explore layering and transparency as well as light and shadow by creating what I call "lace-like" maps.
