Lifeline explores the ways we are interdependent with other forms of life on earth. It highlights the structure of network patterns by juxtaposing tree branches and blood vessels. Both of them are intricate, organic, and constantly changing, reminding us of how interconnected we all are. Trees produce oxygen through photosynthesis, which is vital for sustaining life on earth just as blood vessels bring life and renewal to our bodies.

This work is made of recycled blankets, threads, and quilts which I obtained from friends and thrift shops. Utilizing these reclaimed materials, I build on top of pre-existing patterns and developed what I call the “random weave and stitch” method. My works are constructed by unraveling threads of similar shades or complementary colors and randomly stitching by hand.
