Quilts are usually soft, rocks are not a common component. I was inspired by the beauty of Turritella Agate, a fossiliferous agate found in Wyoming. Fifty million years ago when the Rocky Mountains were forming; rain fell, ran off the land and collected in streams that carried sand, silt, mud, and dissolved materials into the lakes that occupied the intermountain basins. Over time, these sediments filled the lakes preserving many types of fossils within giving us a glimpse of the Earth’s past.
