As I wander through the narrow alleys of Bukchon Hanok Village in Seoul, I’m fascinated by the traditional Korean style houses (or hanoks). As I crest the peak of one steep alley, I stop to admire a lovely view of jumbled giwa rooftops. As I travel the world, I’m dazzled by the vast range of architectural styles, all telling a story about the region’s aesthetic and the natural materials employed to build its structures.
