I once read about a potter who made a dinner service based upon the body of his young wife. This concept, together with the tradition of displaying decorative china plates on walls and a pair of beautiful old dictionaries I had just purchased resulted in me wanting to create a wall full of fibre platters. This piece is a portrait of the eyes of my daughter, Ilse.
An assortment of various dress materials and sewing threads, gold floss thread, paper, glaze coat.
Free motion machine embroidery.
Fibre embedment using scribble stitch.
Papier-mache techniques.
