My creations can be seen from many dimensions: a magnification of microscopic particles, the vastness of space, a cross-section through the earth, an aerial view, or all of these in one piece. I like to include bits of every hue in each of my pieces. Using subtle variations in color and value, I piece together thousands of bits of fabric, many less than an inch square and lines ¼ inch wide.
Emergence 2” is composed entirely from strip-pieced fabric made from solid-colored cottons. From a distance, one is reminded of impressionistic images of sunsets and reflections. Up close, the blended colors of the intricately pieced stripes provide the curious viewer with numerous areas of engagement.
