Dwelling is one in a series of quilts made during the 1990's which represent a shift from landscape based pattern into symbolic forms suggesting psychological states of mind. It was important to exploit the qualities of the quilt as an object, which is associated with comfort and domesticity, to contrast with the disturbing nature of the images. I wanted the work to suggest the seductive quality of beauty, drawing the viewer into the dark content of these works.
