Kerby C. Smith
Dreams have long been a source of imagery and inspiration for me. This one was about the wild, beautiful, and sometimes surprising aspects of our inner landscapes that reveal themselves through our dreams. In these years I loved working with rich fabrics and textures, and the extra dimensionality of the bas relief stuffing. This piece was sold from the Elizabeth Fortner Gallery in Santa Barbara, one of the three California galleries I worked with in the 70s and 80s.
Silk Chiffon, organza, velvet, satin, raw silk floss, polyester stuffing, faux fur, suede cloth.
Bas relief hand appliqud, hand quilted in the ditch with buttonhole twist threads.
