Aunt Belle's Back Fence

Aunt Belle had given up trying to maintain a tidy fence in the alley behind her apartment. Vigorous cleaning couldn't remove the graffiti, and, to be honest, some of it was pretty. If someone painted a vulgar image, she pulled out cans of leftover house paint and covered it with flowers. Then some days, Belle would wander out back with a can and a brush just to add a new swath of color and participate in the lively, abstract conversation playing out on her fence.
