Ann Dunn's Commission
This artwork was created for a friend when I lived in California. At that time the heavy yarns and bright Mexican or southwest colors were important and they also were perfect for the Dunn's home. I was enjoying the large yarns for hand embroidery but wanted to combine techniques so layered both fabrics and embroidery. At that time I must have been influenced by Jean Rae Laury's very large commissions and her art.
cotton fabrics, organza, thread, yarn
hand and machine embroidery, machine applique, piecing, couching
