This piece is part of an ongoing series of highly abstracted landscapes inspired by places that are dear to me. Even in the arid high desert mountains, late summer monsoons lead to riotous flowering color in the forest undergrowth.
Materials
Synthetic fabric and batting, synthetic thread, latex and acrylic paint, handspun roving-wrapped wire
Techniques
This piece was painted, free motion quilted, and edge finished with handspun roving-wrapped wire. Holes were then cut and the piece was sculpted using a combination of fabric stiffener, wooden armature, and stabilizing stitches.
