Have you ever taken a ride on a rope swing over a creek? My granddaughter has been taking off without any help since she was three. I look in those eyes and see the independence and strength of her great-grandmother, the joy and freedom of her aunts, and the spirit of her mother. 3-2-1 Blast Off is a whole cloth quilt from a photo I took in July of 2023 as my granddaughter played in the creek behind my house.
Materials
Petal cotton, the back is a batik, the batting is Quilter’s Dream Bambo.
Techniques
The photo was manipulated and printed on petal cotton at Spoonflower. It was free-motion quilted using over 30 colors of thread.
