Women Who Run with Scissors: Grids and Curves

Non-SAQA
Exhibition

Women Who Run with Scissors was formed in 1997 by a group of art quilters in the greater Green Bay, Wisconsin, area which later expanded into the Northeast Wisconsin region. The group, composed of 14 members, now spans across many regions of Wisconsin. The group's common thread is the love of creating original pieces of fiber art. While some members entered the fiber arts world through the art of traditional quilting, others came from art backgrounds focusing on drawing, painting, and/or garment design.

Playing off each other’s strengths and a willingness to share ideas, techniques, and critique are hallmarks of their meetings and workshops. They have exhibited artwork as a group in galleries and museums. Individual members have also had solo shows as well as some having their quilts travel nationally and internationally. Various group members have been included in different publications including art books, articles in magazines, newspapers, and highlighted segments in other media outlets. Their latest art quilt challenge was, “Grids and Curves,” which is exhibited here with the requirements being uniformity in size, and the presence of both grids and curves.
