Art in Odd Places CARE will feature artists, performers, agitators, and caretakers enacting notions of care for the 19th annual NYC public art festival scheduled for Friday, Saturday, & Sunday, October 18-20, along 14th Street in Manhattan. Curated by Patricia Miranda and Christopher Kaczmarek
The "Emotional Baggage Cart Parade" is a public art initiative aimed at highlighting and alleviating the psychological burdens individuals carry in their daily lives. By transforming mundane shopping carts into mobile art installations, this project offers a visual and interactive metaphor for the emotional baggage we all accumulate. Participants are invited to confront and symbolically release their emotional burdens, fostering a sense of communal healing and empathy. Three shopping carts adorned with various materials such as ribbons, fabric, yarn, recycled, and found materials to create visually striking and thought-provoking vessels.
