Digital Fabric Design

Non-SAQA
Workshop/Retreat
Region

Using three intriguing apps (either iPad or Windows tablets) learn to design textiles for use in your art work, home furnishings or clothing. Susie Monday will demonstrate and take you though the app “how tos” using your own photos from  nature and transforming images or details from your own art work. You’ll see how digital design can help generate almost instant variations and experiments using a favorite image. In addition to the three apps featured, you will receive a list of more to investigate at home. You will also learn the basics of using Spoonflower to print your designs on fabrics. Although we won’t be sending any work for commercial printing during the workshop, you will see a detailed demo, set up an account and take home instructions for later. You will also see a demo of using your home inkjet printer for fabric printing.

If possible bring a digital tablet, but you can also work on a phone if that’s the only mobile digital tool you have. This workshop will not include desktop or laptop apps as they are a different animal, but Susie will suggest apps for those for you to try at home.
