Amazing beauty can often be found lurking subtly at our feet. Walking one morning I came across this orange and yellow lichen growing on a concrete stair. Stunning! It is not unusual for me to be looking at the ground, as I am often found photographing sewers, pavement, small plants and fungi while others look at and photograph vistas. My photograph of the lichen was the starting point for transforming the lichen into a textile. Several techniques were used in its creation.
Cotton fabric, batting, pencil crayon, Setacolor fabric paint, wool thread, cotton thread, beads.
Digital photography, painting, pencil crayon work, quilting, trapunto, hand embroidery, needlelace, beading.
