The Meeting Place
This piece continued with the same theme and techniques I developed while in graduate school. I had trained as a printmaker as an undergraduate and knew the ink didn't wash out of my clothes. I had been working as an archaeological technical artist since 1981 spending up to 6 months a year in Greece, Egypt or Jordan and wanted to make work that chronicled that experience. Etchings printed on hand dyed fabric was my new solution to wanting to draw on fabric. This is simply an allegory for the idea and feeling of antiquity.
Hand dyed cotton fabrics, printers ink, cotton backing and batting.
Etching printed on fabric, hand applique, machine piecing, foundation quilted.
