Shangri-la

This piece combines two plein air drawings I made of our screened-in porch that overlooks my studio, swimming pool, and tropical gardens. As the sun advances across the sky, this retreat is filled with light and stunning patterns of shadow that move and dance with palm fronds, crepe myrtle branches, and an assortment of exotic broadleaf plant beds. The porch offers both interior comfort and the freedom of the exterior, fostering relaxation and inspiration. It is place for conversation, sharing a meal, reading, but most exciting for me, a place to draw and a haven for creative thought and wild imagination.
