Textile Talks: sustainABILITY

Conversations with the Artists

Join three artists from SAQA Global Exhibition sustainABILITY for an hour of art and inspiration!

Pat Kroth provides a lively meditation on the connections between recycling, repurposing, and art making. Gathering found materials has been central to Kroth’s lifelong creative process. Kroth makes abstract fiber-based work incorporating textile fragments, repurposed fabrics, clothing, discarded objects, candy wrappers, sheer overlays, and more.

Linda Kim will focus on six art quilts created in 2020 and 2021, concluding with the work in sustainABILITY. Kim uses mostly found and recycled fabrics. During the pandemic lockdown, scarcity of materials became an issue for Kim, resolved creatively.

Deborah Boschert will share the inspiration, process, and ideas behind her art quilt collage, "Provisions," which is included in sustainABILTIY. She’ll also talk about personal symbols that represent themes in her work and how she leaves space for viewers to bring their own interpretations to visual imagery.
