Influenced by a repeated dream, these horses had to be turned into a quilt. I had sat in on a Ruth McDowell workshop and learned to curve piece. Drawing my own horses first on newspaper then on freezer paper, I began curved piecing. It was very time consuming and work interfered with the progress. After 9 years, I was laied off work and got back to this quilt. I loved the process, shutting out the rest of the world. 400 hours later, I finished this piece.
Materials
All the fabrics are 100% cotton. The batting is a cotton/polyester blend.
Techniques
All the quilt is machine curved pieced except the horse's feet that come out of the picture. Those I hand appliqued as well as the dream cloud and the moon slivers. I machine quilted this piece on my little old Bernina 910.
