The mesmerizing effect of watching and listening to the waves wildly crash against the huge lava rocks at Laupahoehoe Point in Hawaii leads, paradoxically, to a sense of calm. I can sit there for hours. While my plein aire painters group captured the scene in oils or pastels, I "painted" it with bits of randomly cut fabric pieces
Materials
steam a seam, cotton fabric scraps, tulle, batting
Techniques
improvisational fabric collage onto a sticky surface (done plein aire!), quilted over tulle later
