First Press for “My Corner of the World”

MCOTW bannerSAQA exhibition “My Corner of the World” opened yesterday at the Stratford Perth Museum in Stratford, Ontario, Canada. Attracting artists and visitors from around the globe, the opening was a great success, and earned an article in the Stratford Beacon Herald:

There were 300 submissions for the show and choosing 80 was impossible. So impossible, Micaela Fitzsimmons, museum manager of collections and exhibitions, couldn’t cut that final quilt so the show features 81 pieces.

Forty artists from the east coast to the west coast of Canada are represented along with quilters from the United States and as far away as Israel and Australia.

  1. It was a thrill to be a participating artist, able to attend the Opening of MCOTW. This exhibit has to be seen to be appreciated fully. Equally thrilling was the opportunity to meet participating artists from across Canada and the U.S., and to be surprised by cyber-friends and others who came out to see it. Micaela Fitzsimmons, Jaynie Himsl and I also eagerly ‘talked it up’ with the public, the organizers and the Latvian artists currently exhibiting at the Quilt Festival in nearby Ailsa Craig. MCOTW is a must see, when it travels near you!
