Patterns: Jill Ault

Jill-Ault-BA15TJill Ault revealed the creative methodology behind her art works to Clairan Ferrono:

Ault: “Stripe” was constructed of shibori experiments.  I have explored the multiple shibori patterning techniques and have accumulated many pieces of dyed cloth.  This opportunity was a good place to use some of my stash of samples.

I am very interested in pattern.  Of course, I’m a quilter.  There are many ways to make pattern — shibori, silkscreen, embroidery, piecing, painting, digital printing.  My collection of quilts includes all of them.  Currently, I’ve been working with digitally-printed fabric.
