Susan Shie will present examples of her current work and discuss her artistic approach, followed by a class on free hand drawing.
The class is much more about expressing yourself through drawing, rather than making the best drawing in the class. Susan teaches making narrative drawings of our ideas and stories, rather than her giving traditional formal exercises or teaching rules used in drawing. The student is not dealing with perfection of drawing, but rather with learning to open up and express themselves without formal rules or judgment. You could compare Susan Shie's teaching style with the Montessori style of teaching. It's about self expression and independent exploration.
Susan Shie's art work is acclaimed on an international basis and she teaches from her studio. Her amazing quilts have won many awards.
